Frequently Asked Questions
What does "Holistic" mean?
There are many different ways to define the word "holistic." The way we define it is to view the person as an entire whole being, taking into account their mind-body-spirit-and-soul. We believe the external situations and circumstances in which we find ourselves are a reflection of what is happening in our internal world. If there is imbalance in our internal world, there will be an imbalance in our external world. Often times we aren't aware of what our imbalances are, so we need to call upon greater resources, the spirit and the soul, to help us determine what might be happening in the mind and the body. The way we view it, by the time a situation has manifested in your external reality, it has already been out of balance in your spirit and soul. Thus, by viewing at you as a whole person, including your spirit and your soul, we are able to help you clear even deeper patterns and beliefs you didn't even realize were there. The cool part about including the spirit and the soul is, sometimes we learn the patterns we are carrying around and repeating in our lives today, are not even ours to begin with! Sometimes they are unresolved patterns we carry with us from past lives, or even patterns we have been carrying for our ancestors. All of our clinicians have some sort of holistic background which they weave gracefully and ethically into the psychotherapy space.
What makes your Center "innovative?"
We aren't your run of the mill psychotherapy center. At the Relationship Center of Silicon Valley, our therapists offer a unique set of superpowers which integrate intuition, spirituality, ancient wisdom, and often times other healing modalities (such as energy healing) into everything we do. Through our work we have come to find there is great healing power in incorporating the use of spirituality and ancient wisdom to help our clients heal. It is not uncommon for your provider to have an intuitive hit and invite you to explore it further, which might then open the gates to new awareness you never knew you had. Other times, your provider might offer you support via our crystals or oracle cards we have placed around our office. And don't be surprised if after you share a story about how things feel topsy turvy right now, your therapist looks at you and says, "Yup, sounds about right, that's exactly what's happening in our astrology right now, so let's figure out how to help you navigate it." Essentially you could say, we are bringing the art of magic and ancient healing back into therapy! And, we do it in a way that is ethical and helps our clients remember their power rather than staying dependent on us.
That sounds really woo-woo. What if I'm not really into religion or spirituality?
We get it, this innovative approach isn't for everyone. However, we have a feeling if you have made it this far into our website, some part of you believes there's some truth here and you might have some curiosity about how our unique approach might help you to finally heal old patterns that have kept you stuck. And, there is a difference between religion and spirituality. Religion is structured and often has dogma attached to it, which can be a turn off for most people. Spirituality is non-structured and is about your personal relationship with yourself and something bigger and greater than you. The same thing that turns acorns into oak trees and fetuses into babies must have something to do with the higher order and functioning in your life, right? Afterall, that same something also keeps the stars suspended in the sky and the earth going around its orbit, so how can it not play a part in your life? As you learn to develop a deeper relationship with a power greater than you, you begin to develop an even deeper relationship with yourself. Once you are able to do that, all of your external relationships experience a magical shift, and the problems in relationships that once plagued you, will plague you no more.
Okay, that sounds awesome! But, it also sounds like it will take a long time...is that true?
The short answer is yes, that is true. The long answer is, your patterns of relating with others did not appear over night and they will not change over night. Doing this level of work is a longer term commitment to your health and well being. That said, our goal is not to keep you here with us forever. Due to the innovative ways in which we practice, our clients report significant shifts in as little as 3-6 months. Our clients have even told us 6 months into working with us on a consistent weekly basis they are so amazed at the changes they have experienced because they thought it would take them at least 2 years to get to where they got in 6 months! Most of our clients stay with us for a minimum of 2 years, usually starting with weekly then tapering down to bi-weekly, then monthly, adjusting as they start to feel more and more comfortable navigating on their own.
That sounds like it might be expensive. I have insurance. Do you take my insurance for therapy? If not, how can I use my insurance?
You're right, making the decision to prioritize yourself and your well being does require a significant investment, not only in money, also with time, energy, and effort. We invite you to consider, the investment you make in therapy will help you clear away years worth of hurt and repeated turmoil, thereby releasing you to live more freely as the true expression of who you are. Your life will not look the way it did when you began, and you will feel a sense of peace and wholeness you never knew was possible. We think that's priceless.
While we do not work directly with any insurance companies, we do provide Super Bills to our clients to help you receive any out of network reimbursement for your PPO health plan you are eligible to receive. There are a number of reasons we have made the decision to work in this way. Our top two reasons are your privacy and quality of care. As for your quality of care, the reality is, most insurance carriers offer therapists $40-60 per 60 minute visit. At those rates, a therapist who is on insurance panels might carry 30-40 clients per week in order to make ends meet, and that doesn't even include the amount of time they might spend trying to hunt down and collect payments from insurance carriers. Sometimes those therapists might be working around 60 hours a week.
We have been there, we know what that feels like, both, from the client perspective and from the therapists' perspective. Here at the Relationship Center of Silicon Valley, your individualized care is our number one priority, and as such, our clinicians see 10-15 clients per week.
Hmmm...I'm still a little concerned about the cost. What exactly am I getting?
When you choose to work with us, you choose to invest in working with therapists who are also healers, walk a spiritual path, and do their own work in deeply powerful and transformative ways. Our clinicians have gone (and continue to go) to the depths of their souls, met their shadows, and are now here and ready to guide you though the same, if you so choose to embark upon that journey. We truly believe a therapist or healer can only take you as far as they have gone. When you sit with a therapist who has gone into the depths of their own soul and faced their own inner darkness and come through the other side transformed, there's very little they can't handle. When you choose to work with us, that is what you choose to invest in.
